New Mexico’s Regulations on Windshield Tinting
We do our homework when it comes to windshield tinting. First and foremost, windshield film cannot extend above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line. In New Mexico, this means that tinting must be placed at least five inches from the top of the windshield to remain in compliance. Reflective windshield tint is also prohibited on vehicles. For side windows and rear windshield, visible light transmission (VLT) on tint can’t be less than 20% when left, right, and interior rearview mirrors are present. However, the front windshield can be a darker shade of tint.
